China business visa (M visa)

商务签证

An M visa lets you visit China for commercial activities such as meetings, factory visits and trade fairs, but not for paid work. Many nationalities can now also enter visa-free for short business trips. We advise on the right route and prepare invitation letters from your Chinese entity.

What an M visa covers

  • Meetings with suppliers, customers and partners
  • Factory audits and inspections
  • Trade fairs such as the Canton Fair
  • Negotiating and signing contracts

What it doesn’t cover

Working for a Chinese company, or being paid for work performed in China. For that you need a work permit and Z visa.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for a short business trip?

Possibly not. China has expanded visa-free entry for many nationalities for short stays, including business. The list and the permitted length of stay change, so we check the current rules for your passport before you book.

Who can issue the invitation letter?

A Chinese company you are visiting, such as a supplier, a partner or your own WFOE. We can draft it in the format consulates expect.
